My Discovery Projects

This afternoon many of the students started their "My Discovery" Projects. Students decide on something they would like to know more about or that they would like to get better at. They then plan and conduct research and report back to the class. These have a very high interest. See above for the projects

Home Learning Challenge

This is a cubism photo that I did in 3-4 days. What I used was paint and objects I first drew it on a piece of paper. This was a homework challenge for school.

Everyone is a Teacher

In Rooms 24 and 25 we have the motto "Everyone is a learner and Everyone is a teacher." This afternoon, this was in full action as every single student had to teacher a short lesson and be a learner in several lessons. The afternoon was a hive of activity with lessons ranging from making donuts to learning a cultural dance to learning how to draw a cartoon. Above are a selection of photos of the lessons

Cybersafety

Cybersafety is an important part of Rm 24/25. Today the girls looked at the expectations around Cybersafety and created something that teaches others how to be an effective digital citizen.

Self Awareness

At Oaklands this year, there is a huge focus on developing learner dispositions which are the habits of learning. The dispositions are:

• Collaborate
• Connect
• Question
• Be Curious
• Communicate
• Empathise
• Be Self Aware
• Be Resilient

The focus for Room 24/25 is on being Self Aware. Being self aware means to know yourself as a learner. This means that students:

• Know their own strengths and weaknesses; and know their optimal learning conditions.
• Are reflective about their actions and strategies they use in their learning
• Are goal focused about their learning.
• Make and justify choices about their learning.
